Latest news on the Max Stassi front:
UPDATE: And it’s big enough to put it all in bold text. In Tuesday’s game against the Rangers, Stassi added another first: First big-league spring training home run.
Stassi hit the solo shot with two outs in the seventh inning off Venezuelan righty Guillermo Moscoso, who was a September call-up for Texas last season.
Stassi left the game in the ninth inning with a knee contusion, and the Associated Press is reporting he’ll likely be headed to minor league camp tomorrow.
The 18-year-old Yuba Citian (well, 18 for a few more days) took his first spring training at-bat in the big leagues yesterday for the Oakland A’s in their 10-3 Cactus League loss to the Chicago Cubs.
Stassi came in to hit for Coco Crisp as the A’s designated hitter in the eighth inning, hitting into a ground out against six-year big-league veteran lefty Tom Gorzelanny.
