Question for all you former coaches and current coaches of any sport. Is it okay for a coach to flip off his team and tell them that is for them, or to call them names that I can’t even type on this blog. What makes that okay? I wish all his players would have walked out on him last night!
No, never ok for a coach to put down a player. Yelling at one on the court to box out, or play defense or what ever is OK. But it should never be personal. I do not beleive a coach should ever call his/her players names, if it is intended to be in a serious manner.
I’m not sure they have to win both games to stay in. I say that because if you look at the teams behind RV they have a chance.
RV 18-5 (2 games left) power ranking is 4.05
El Camino 13-11 (two games left) power ranking is 4.25
Downey 15-10 (two games left) power ranking is 4.06
Wood 13-12 (two games left) power ranking 3.75
If RV can beat Inderkum and lose to YC their final record would be 19-6 and I think it would be hard for the section to keep them out for a team with 11(ElCamino) losses and two loses to teams RV beat, Bethel and Bear River. I think RV has a 50/50 chance to make the playoffs if they beat Inderkum and lose to YC. A loss to Inderkum I think would put RV out no matter what they do against YC.

Any gesture like flipping someone off is never acceptable……trying to get kids to play hard every night is hard for any coach and the methods some coaches use to help have the players become motivated to play hard are different. Not every style is the same or works for every player. To me, good coaches have various methods that will help players be motivated to play up to their highest level.
Some coaches only have a single method they use and don’t open themselves up to look at other methods, but I say this knowing that coaching is a lost art in High School. So I would not comment on how a coach tries to create an environment for players to be motivated to play hard unless I was there in practice everyday and at every game.
yes, ..flipping kids, parents, fans, and onlookers is a great way to be forever looked at like a POS, ,..alot of coaches and it’s sad to say, ..are living through their coaching as most couldn’t get it done themselves on their own merit..That coach, needs to be removed from the school.
