Week Four preview (25:32)
Hey Great Job again guys, enough thanks can’t be given to your endless coverage of High School Football and our local teams. To start I am really looking forward to the Sutter vs. Wheatland match up this Friday night. Although in contrast to what you mentioned on your podcast, I don’t think Wheatland will be the toughest opponent Sutter has faced to this point, as Bethel I believe is a tougher opponent than Wheatland (at least they are ranked higher in Calpreps). But as in every rivalvry game most of the records and pre-season rankings are not valid, so I expect a tough fight in Wheatland Friday night but would think the Huskies win this one….
Placer vs. Yuba City, I sure hope Yuba City can hang with this team….they are good, probably as good as any local team has had to go up against (including Inderkum)…..the USC committ on Placer is the real deal and they have beat teams down, including a good Foothill squad from the Northern Section…I wish the Honkers the best this Friday, but don’t get anyone injured as the following week you will need the house to go up against Inderkum….that is two very difficult tests back to back for Yuba City…..again I am hoping for the best….and stay healthy…
R.V. vs. Bear River, this is a game that R.V. needs to win. Bear River is down this year and there isn’t any excuse not to take care of business against this team….it would be great momentum moving into league play to have this win under your belt and playing well…
Again great job and thanks to all and everyone stay healthy Friday night….
With Inderkum smacking down PG, whoever said it was a down year for the TCC must be rethinking that. YC has some Oline issues right now. Hopefully those kids are up to the task.
I’m sorry Husky Fan Bethel is a horrible football team. They graduated everything they had that was good and helped them beat Grant. They have nothing to offer this year.
Should be two great match-ups on paper this week; SUHS/WHS and YCHS/PHS. Just like last year when Wheatland stepped up to play that very good Colfax team last year, YC will get tested for sure. A healthy VanDuzen will be requred. Bear River is 3-0 but they have beat 3 teams with a combined record of 1-9. So I am thinking RV will get by this one this week.
Sutter 35 Wheatland 7 (Could be a preview of the section champ)
Sutter JV 40 Wheatland JV 7
Marysville 14 Mira Loma 42
Gridley 14 Orland 31
Yuba City 21 Placer 35
Yuba City JV 35 Placer JV 14
River Valley 31 Bear River 20
River Valley JV 35 Bear River JV 14
Also, this is the perfect time for YC to play such a good team. YC has a bye next week on the schedule so they will have two weeks to get healthy and plan for Inderkum.
Good luck to all the local teams and see everyone out at the Sutter/Wheatland game on Friday.
Sorry, forgot to include the Lindhurst game. Tough next two weeks for the Blazer Faithful.
Lindhurst 0 Pioneer 42
You guy’s seem to be saying this game is Sutter’s Defense against Wheatland offense. I disagree. Sutter’s defense will be just fine the real question is can Wheatlands defense stop Sutter’s offense. Little in his third year at QB and the big strong fullback for Sutter will be the difference in the game.
Tears….I disagree….I don’t think Wheatland would stay within 14 points of Bethel…yes they did graduate a lot of studs, but that isn’t a weakish 1,400 school like Lincoln. Bethel has over 2,000 kids at that school and there is still talent there. I am not arguing that Bethel is a top notch football team, but I think they are as good or better a test to Sutter than Wheatland is……but as I mentioned above, with rivalry games rankings and records are thrown out and it is usually a war…..my point was that Sutter has been tested by teams better than Wheatland was tested by Lincoln. It may not appear so by the score, but Lincoln was not rated very highly either….Bethel is rated higher than both Lincoln and Wheatland I guess is my point…..stay healthy this weak to all….
I hope that YC pulls this one off. Sutter needs to make sure they bring the best of their team and comes to play which we all know they always do. Mira Loma shouldn’t have a problem, I really hope Marysville gets through the pre season and brushes it off stepping into league with a FRESH start. River Valley I think will bring everything they have to the table this week. That is a DETEMINED group of kids and seems as though they are figuring out the weaknesses and working through them. They have a couple great defensive players, Johnson & Magenheimer, offensively Dove and Maxham know how to get the points, hopefully they can put all this into play this week and bring the win.
A couple of notes about EN’s Zach Schuler. You mention that Zach is a Texas transfer. Which is true, Zach is from Texas. But fact be known, Zach has been at East Nic for over 2 years now. He played all year last year as a sophomore on the varsity, mostly as a Defensive Back, but also had some carries at Running Back. As a DB he averaged over 5 tackles a game. So, let’s get the facts straight about Zach, he didn’t show up on EN doorstep this September. He has been around a while.
Sutter and Wheatland will be a great matchup. Sutter has more talent in my opinion and a more fundamentally sound defense. Matt Schamanski does a great job as the D-Coordinator. I used to coach with him and consider him a friend and a great coach! Neil is a master motivator and a great play caller so the Wheatland kids should be ready. Regardless of the outcome it should be a well-coached and hard-hitting game. Best of luck to both teams and communities!
